Television Experience

Producing experience –

I’ve produced four different series for public television including, “Fitness Connections”, “Small Business Connections”, “Food Connections: Cultural Edition”, and “Health Connections”.  You can find complete episodes of my most recent series, “Health Connections”, on YouTube.  Additional information is on KSMQ Public Television’s website.

Directing experience –

In addition to my producing experience from my time at KSMQ, I’ve directed hundreds of productions not only for KSMQ, but also for Iowa Public Television and the University of Northern Iowa.  My role of director has included:

  • On-location single camera productions
  • On-location multi-camera productions, including field switcher and live web streaming
  • In-studio productions
    • Produced multi-camera productions
    • Live studio productions

Additionally, here are some links to programs I’ve directed, but not produced:

Editing experience –

Long before I turned on the “On-Air” light for my directorial debut, I was an editor.  Over the years, I’ve used Avid Media Composer and Xpress Pro, Adobe Premiere, Media 100, and, of course, Final Cut Pro.  I have extensive experience with multi-camera editing in Final Cut Pro, having developed and improved multi-camera editing at both the University of Northern Iowa and KSMQ Public Television.  I work on expanding my skills and knowledge in the realm of editing by pushing myself creatively at work and home.

Technical experience -

I pride myself on my ability to learn about new technology, including software and hardware, and finding the most effective and efficient methods of completing a project.  Whether it’s the newest version of Final Cut Pro or Adobe Creative Suite, I want to know how it will impact my productions and projects.
